Macy’s Unveils Holiday Windows with Fireworks and Confetti

Yes, Virginia, Macy’s has once again outdone itself on its annual holiday window displays.

The flagship store on 34th Street Herald Square is a must-see for New Yorkers and out-of-towners during the holiday season.

This year’s window theme is “The Perfect Gift Brings People Together.” The store unveiled its windows Thursday night with much fanfare, including a fireworks display. The windows will remain through Jan. 1.

“For us, it meant all those moments and the activities that take place as you get ready for the holiday season,” says Roya Sullivan, Macy’s National Director of Window Presentation of this year’s theme.

“The windows are mood boards; depicting New York City and Macy’s as miniature pieces and the sense of energy that is surrounding the holidays.”

The department store has six holiday windows on Broadway and 18 other windows, including the perennial “Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus,” which has had a place of honor for the last 10 years.

One window features a Christmas tree as the centerpiece at home Another captures the busy city with an ice skating rink. A third has Santa as a theater conductor during a holiday show.
