The Patagonia Opens Thrift Shop in Amsterdam for One Day Only

Patagonia builds clothing that is made to last—sometimes longer than a person has use for it. The most responsible option for this unused gear is to get it into the hands of people who will put it back into action.

On 23 March, Patagonia is popping up in Amsterdam for a one-day event to celebrate and sell repaired and customised pre-loved pieces. We’ll be operating on a one item per person, first-come, first-served basis, and all proceeds from the day will go to local grassroots NGOs.

“One of the best things we can do for the planet is keep stuff in use longer and reduce our overall consumption. That means buying less, repairing more and trading in gear when you no longer need it. This is what we celebrate, every day, through our Worn Wear program and what came alive last week in the thrift shop.

Everything on sale was pre-owned Patagonia gear, repaired by United Repair Centre and customized for a second life.

In typical Dutch weather, we saw our incredible community showing up, buying second hand Patagonia gear and giving back all the proceeds to 4 of our Patagonia Action Works grantees: Voedselpark Amsterdam, Fossielvrij NL, Surfrider Foundation Netherlands and Drinkable Rivers.

Special thanks to the team of the Amsterdam Patagonia Store, Caitlin Stoel, United Repair Centre, Amsterdam Economic Board and everyone who contributed before, during and after.

And there is more… in a few weeks we will open our permanent Patagonia store, in Amsterdam, on Singel 465!” By
