Mentorship Program! Win A Summer 2021 Internship At Michael Kors!

The WindowsWear Mentorship Program in partnership with Michael Kors invite students to reimagine the Michael Kors store for its 40th anniversary! The objective of this contest is to take Michael’s vision and combine it with the company’s goal to drive positive environment and social change keeping in mind the impact that the operations can have on the environment and the well-being of others.

Michael Kors launched his company in 1981, at the age of 21, inspired by paparazzi photos of the original jet set. He has remained true to that vision, saying: “The essence of jet set—of living a fast life and needing clothes and accessories that can keep up—is just as relevant today as it was when I started the brand.” It’s a vision of luxury imbued with speed, energy and optimism, a commitment to style for a fast-paced life.

Conceive and design the look and feel of a Michael Kors store to celebrate the brand’s 40th anniversary. The project space is 2500 square feet (220 square meters), located within an indoor shopping mall. The following product categories need to be accommodated, with approximate space allocation matched to estimated sales projections:
50% Women’s accessories (handbags, small leather goods, watches/jewelry)
25% Women’s shoes
15% Women’s ready to wear
10% Men’s accessories and shoes

Submission Requirements:

1) Provide a written description of your vision for the Michael Kors store celebrating 40 years in fashion.
2) Create an engaging and meaningful customer experience that seamlessly connects the brand’s physical store to Michael Kors’ e-commerce and social platforms.
3) Reimagine how people shop. Design the new store with the entire 360 experience in mind from initial brand engagement to final transaction and purchase.
4) Utilize technology to not only enhance the design of the store but also to create a future focused way of shopping. Technology should also be leveraged to measure and increase sales productivity.
5) Develop innovative solutions with a focus on sustainability.
6) Consider creative ways to manage the flow of product into and out of the stores, thinking beyond in-person transactions. How does the store remain flexible as a brand showroom, a traditional store, and a localized distribution center?
7) Make Michael Kors the “go to,” year-round gifting destination.

All submissions are to be digital; including but not limited to PDF documents, videos, 3D virtual walk throughs. At minimum, submissions should include:
i) Concept sketches, ideations, and inspiration (pdf format)
ii) Plans, elevations, and axonometric drawings (pdf format)
