Aetna And Apple Partnership Offers Members Personalized Health Plans – PSFK

As consumers turn to their devices to support them in their health and fitness endeavors, insurance companies are taking notice. Apple and insurance group Aetna are accordingly teaming up to create an app that will not only track consumers’ exercise, but also help encourage healthy behaviors.

The app, called Attain, will be geared toward Aetna members with an iPhone or Apple Watch. The app will provide users with reminders to stay active and comply with other health advice, like getting a flu shot or taking medication. These recommendations will change based on the person’s habits, needs and even where they live.

Additionally, perhaps the biggest draw of the program is that Aetna members will receive an Apple Watch Series 3 when they sign up. The catch is that they have to keep up with their healthy habits, like working out and getting enough sleep, to “earn” the watch over 24 months. If they fail to do so, they will pay for a portion of the device out-of-pocket.

The two companies have been working together on this app since 2016, which is slated to become available sometime in spring 2019. “As we learn over time, the goal is to make more customized recommendations that will help members accomplish their goals and live healthier lives,” said Apple COO Jeff Williams in a statement.
