MYC | Muslim Youth Centre
Adolescence is a critical period for identity development. They become increasingly aware of how social groups impact their life and gain new cognitive capacities that enable them to negotiate and explore multiple social identities in greater depth. Muslims from all over the world of all ages have been going to their local mosque not only to worship but to receive services, participate in charitable events, and create meaningful friendships. MYC is an Islamic facility that inspires young Muslims to engage in religiosity. It also provides a space to curate lifelong relationships, manifest their identities, and develop a strong sense of belonging. Servicing youth within the greater Toronto area, its goal is to create opportunities for Muslim youth to volunteer in community events, participate in discussion circles, and gain access to a variety of after-school programs. With this facility being a multi-functional space, youth can come here for spiritual reasons or to socialize and participate in ongoing programs.
