The Art of Seating: 200 Years of American Design
The Art of Seating, organized by The Museum of Contemporary Art, Jacksonville, and the Thomas H. and Diane DeMell Jacobsen Ph.D. Foundation, presents a survey of exceptional American chair design from the early 19th century to the present day. The chair is experienced not only as a functional item but as sculptural in view—the chair as art.
Design Concept:
Demonstrating the design contrast by the juxtaposition between form and function. In the form section, the seats get sculptural treatment— aside from seating, chairs are objects capable of embellished and provide character to space. At the function section, the looks of the chairs are important but are not the priority. These seats— rather modern looking, please the eye with their simple, yet beautiful shapes. These chairs delight with their comfort and ergonomic aspects.
