Rescuing the River
Group Project done in collaboration with Serena Annucci Rescuing the River is an outdoor exhibit, located on Little Island, looking to educate about the Hudson River’s ecosystem, toxic history, and future. Visitors will be led through the space via the brochure scavenger hunt. The exhibit targets children between the ages of 9 to 13 and aligns with the science education curriculum for this range. Materiality is very important to this exhibit and many displays are created from recycled plastics, reclaimed wood, and reclaimed oyster shells to combine natural and man-made materials in an intentional and sustainable way. A vivid palette and interactive elements encourage visitors to see a brighter future for the Hudson River and show them ways in which they can take action. Three out of the five sections of this exhibit are designed: Flora & Fauna, On the Horizon, and Citizen Science.
