This is Sheraden Link and Kellie Haslam’s culminating thesis project for the final Interior Environments studio course of the Interior Decorating program at Sheridan College. This capstone course, instructed by Aseel Khalil, integrates content from co-requisite courses (Drafting & Detailing, Drawing & Communication Skills, and Digital Communications).
The assignment was to generate creative decorating solutions resulting in functional and aesthetically pleasing interior spaces for a fictional client’s multi-purpose commercial space. In this case the fictional clients (Madeira Datta and Anna Livingston) requested the design of a multipurpose commercial space primarily utilized as a co-working space and café (branded by the designers as FLEX CoWorking and SEED Café).
In-class exercises and assignments led Ms Link and Ms Haslam through the design process, from initial programming through to development of presentation drawings, taking functional requirements and aesthetic requirements of the space into consideration throughout. The final product is a conceptual decorating proposal and presentation drawings with selected finishes for the space.
