Niche cosmetics and fragrances retailer Trove continues its retail expansion across Kuala Lumpur and has opened its newest retail space in what’s now widely regarded as the city’s new leading upscale shopping centre—The Exchange TRX. Situated on the first floor, the Trove store occupies a 180 sqm. (1,938 sq.ft.) unit and features an interior design by local design practice Spacemen. The store settings are inspired by the intangible nature of light, and this notion has been translated into a luminous sanctuary that has the look and feel of an abstract cove. The retail space boasts two consecutive spaces marked by floor-to-ceiling linear shelves that mirror the undulating curves of a cave’s interior in an abstract manner. Needless to say, these sweeping forms not only serve as a functional display system but also evoke the sensation of exploring hidden alcoves within a natural formation. And speaking of ‘hidden’, left and right of the doorway to the second space, concealed by the undulating shelves, two treatment rooms can be found. Additional furnishings include a large circular product bar, situated right below a similarly shaped skylight, displays and a cashier’s desk with a matching linear-shelf aesthetic, while the second space comes with a lounge space and built-in seating.
