Josana Blue Answers: What Does Creativity Mean To You? In Honor Of The 2024 WindowsWear Awards

In celebration the 2024 WindowsWear Awards, we asked 80 diverse creatives to delve into the genesis of their imaginative journeys. Creativity, at its core, is the capacity to conceive original and valuable ideas, transcending established boundaries and thinking out of the box.

What does creativity mean to you?

I think creativity is a gift fueled by the passion to create something beautiful, innovative or problem solve how to make something happen. Creativity is being able to flex the imagination into creating in a tangible world.

What is your first memory of being creative?

I told my mother when I was maybe 5? That I was an artist.
My first creative memories are playing with cardboard boxes and imaginatively turning them into whatever fort or thing I wanted, making little dresses for my Barbie’s with paper towels 😂, painting rocks, drawing around the perimeter of my bedroom wall with lipstick X’s & O’s with smiley faces ❌⭕️❌⭕️❌⭕️❌⭕️:) when I was like 3-4?

How do you approach creativity every day?

Creativity is my greatest tool in everything I do. I lean on it for everything. I am open to channeling it and thankful that I have it.

Where do you find your creativity?

I feel that my creativity is the innate nature of my being. It’s in my heart and mind. I also find that in keeping an open heart and mind I’m able to channel inspiration from anywhere or thing which certainly fuels my creativity.

What advice would you give to someone looking to cultivate their creativity?

Dig deep, explore, spend time alone, create, touch, see, hear, feel and absorb every medium around you.
Be inquisitive and imaginative in your everyday working process. Surround yourself and work with kind people who hold greater creative experience than your own. Be brave.
