New York shoppers will now have access to authenticated items from some of the most popular brands, including Aimé Leon Dore, Bape, Kith and Supreme , ateBay ’s Canal Street Wear retail shop.
As previously reported by WWD , eBay launched its Authenticity Guarantee for the streetwear category in March 2023, making it the sixth category for the company’s authentication services following sneakers, watches, jewelry, handbags and trading cards. Global searches on eBay for streetwear have increased more than 150 percent since the beginning of the year and according to Mintel’s 2022 “Sneakers and Streetwear U.S.” report, the streetwear industry is estimated to be worth more than $180 billion.
“Enthusiasts go to eBay to find every drop from the past few decades, from late 90’s Supreme and Virgil era Louis Vuitton to younger brands like Palace and Aimé Leon Dore,” said Charis Marquez, global vice president of fashion at eBay. “Expanding Authenticity Guarantee to streetwear brings peace of mind that every item is the real deal and furthers our efforts to make eBay the most trusted destination for streetwear. Canal Street Wear highlights eBay’s incredible selection and commitment to authenticity.”
The selection at Canal Street Wear has been curated by top-rated sellers on eBay including NYMilan, RIF and Soledout.jersey.city. Items include pieces from new releases as well as sought-after vintage styles. Among the collection are the Supreme Morrissey T-shirt, Off-White hoodies, Nike x Comme des Garçons sneakers and Aimé Leon Dore New Balance sneakers. The store will also feature authentic versions from some of the most commonly faked brands including Bape, Louis Vuitton and Chrome Hearts, among others.
Notably, consumers are also invited to bring in streetwear items to be authenticated on-site by eBay’s team of streetwear experts.
EBay’s Canal Street Wear is open to shoppers at 331 Canal Street this Friday and Saturday from noon to 7 p.m.
