For Spring 2019, Karl Lagerfeld transformed Paris’s Grand Palais into Chanel By The Sea—a sandy and serene beach getaway complete with its own ocean and on-duty lifeguard. Chanel has deigned to bring a little bit of that glamour to New York. The brand has opened an in-store boutique at Barneys New York, complete with an installation on the first floor, where the legendary Barneys windows have been taken over by rich sand dunes.
The ephemeral boutique, located on the sixth floor at 660 Madison Avenue through April 22, marks the first time the department store is offering ready-to-wear, handbags and costume jewelry from Chanel.
