Valentino Beauty Unveils “Ciel Baroque” Living Studio Pop-Up in Shanghai

In Shanghai, Valentino redefines beauty retail with the unveiling of its “Ciel Baroque” pop-up—an immersive living studio that transforms product discovery into a cinematic, participatory experience.

Set within a historic villa on Xinle Road, the temporary space departs from traditional retail formats, instead presenting itself as a fully realized environment where visitors become both audience and protagonist. Valentino Beauty uses the concept of a “living studio” to blur the lines between campaign, content creation, and physical retail, reflecting the evolving expectations of today’s image-driven consumer.

The installation was created to showcase the brand’s latest launches, including the Go-Cushion Glow and Spike Valentino “Ciel Baroque” collections. Rather than positioning products on static counters, the space is designed as a sequence of stylized environments—each acting as a backdrop for interaction, experimentation, and self-expression.

Inside, the scenography leans into a dramatic interplay of color and texture. Rich blue surfaces and theatrical red curtains frame the space, evoking a baroque-inspired atmosphere that feels both opulent and contemporary. Mirrored vanities and professional lighting setups invite guests to test products while simultaneously creating content, reinforcing the studio-like environment built for image-making.

Interactive elements and curated moments are embedded throughout the journey, encouraging visitors to engage directly with the products through touchpoints that feel more experiential than transactional. Gamified features and live digital integrations further extend the experience beyond the physical space, aligning with China’s highly connected beauty ecosystem.

This activation continues Valentino Beauty’s ongoing exploration of immersive retail in Shanghai—a market where brand storytelling is increasingly expressed through temporary, high-impact environments. By transforming a product launch into a fully narrative-driven space, “Ciel Baroque” reflects a broader industry shift: beauty is no longer just applied, but performed.

More than a pop-up, the living studio positions Valentino Beauty at the intersection of luxury, content, and experience—where every visitor steps into the frame.
