Alex Wells Greco, Creative Visual Director, Harrods Answers: What Does Creativity Mean To You? In Honor of the 2024 WindowsWear Awards

In celebration the 2024 WindowsWear Awards, we asked 80 diverse creatives to delve into the genesis of their imaginative journeys. Creativity, at its core, is the capacity to conceive original and valuable ideas, transcending established boundaries and thinking out of the box.

What does creativity mean to you?

Creativity to me signifies freedom! It gives you the opportunity to escape and think without limitations.

What is your first memory of being creative?

I have an identical twin brother and from a young age I was labelled the creative one! I remember being taken by my family to the Tate museum when I was 7 and as part of the visit we were able to recreate one of the paintings and I recall sitting on the floor in front of Van goghs Sunflower painting and meticulously trying to draw it.

How do you approach creativity every day?

At Harrods, my favourite aspect is brainstorming with the team – this allows you to bounce ideas of other people and see how they can be developed.

Where do you find your creativity?

Predominantly from galleries and museums.

What advice would you give to someone looking to cultivate their creativity?

Challenge yourself across many different mediums: 2D, 3d within print and digital as this will challenge your creativity in many ways.
