Tokyo: Dover Street Market Guerilla Store

As any seasoned shopper knows, leave it to Comme des Garçons to come up with a good pop-up store. But although the days of the brand’s brilliantly quasi-clandestine series of Comme des Garçons guerilla stores across the planet are long gone, a new iteration of sorts has suddenly surfaced in Tokyo. It’s all happening at Dover Street Market in the city’s Ginza district where Rose Bakery, the store’s popular café on the top floor, is momentarily closed for a thorough revamp, and meanwhile, a guerilla store has opened. Using the café’s original layout with all the fixtures, furnishings and an exposed concrete floor as a backdrop, it features almost a similarly raw setting as the aforementioned guerilla stores. So, what can be found here? The Dover Street Market guerilla store kicks off with offerings from the recently launched Fluro Rebellioncapsule collection which features items designed in collaboration with a variety of designers and brands, such as MM6 Maison Margiela, Off-White and Stüssy, in addition to a curated range of new items and archive goods, but it will see a frequent rotation of merchandise on offer, so fans of the store should keep an eye on future launches (open through February 2021).
