San Francisco: Fiat Lux Store Opening

Although trained as a biomedical engineer, Marie McCarthy followed an unexpected path after graduation, becoming a successful niche entrepreneur in San Francisco with both a tattoo parlour and jewellery boutique. It’s the latter venture which has recently seen an ambitious expansion with a second outpost in the city’s leafy Pacific Heights neighbourhood. Situated on the ground floor of a wooden structure built in 1900, Fiat Lux‘s interior is a world away from the dark and stern aesthetic of its first location on Church Street. McCarthy collaborated with local designer Noz Nozawa to create a fittingly lavish interior for the lofty space, resulting in a whimsical backdrop of aviary-inspired wallpaper with gold resin drips by decorative artist Caroline Lizarraga and picture frame wall moulding in striking light blue shade which tie in with wall cabinets dipped in a similar hue. A seating arrangement in eclectic style allows shoppers to sit back and relax in between power shopping sprees and take in the exuberance. The new Fiat Lux boutique continues to carry a curated mix of jewellery designs by designers such as Harwell GodfreyCéline d’Aoust, Victoria Walker and Venyx, but also luxurious vintage collections. An exclusive additional offering comes in the form of 14-karat gold-fused Fiat Lux bracelets which can be customised and permanently clasped to the customer’s wrist safely and painlessly using the store’s arc welder. The store also offers piercings for their customers.
