Alexander Wang – Interior
For Chinese artist Zhou Xuerong's exhibition Guest House: Welcome Home at The Wang Contemporary in New York City, Duggal Visual Solutions designed, fabricated, and installed a large-scale, glass-house-inspired architectural structure that transformed the gallery into an immersive exhibition environment. Spanning approximately 42 × 27 feet and standing 10 feet high, the freestanding installation featured transparent walls framed in black, a reflective ceiling, and an illuminated floor composed of a grid of square LED panels. The interplay of light, reflection, and transparency created a striking visual contrast with the venue's historic architecture while allowing visitors to experience the exhibition from both inside and outside the structure. The custom-built environment housed Zhou Xuerong's hyperrealistic wax sculptures, which explore cultural identity through familiar Western figures engaged in traditional Chinese activities. Designed specifically for the exhibition, the structure served as both an architectural centerpiece and an integral part of the visitor experience. From design and custom fabrication through on-site installation, Duggal brought together architectural elements, integrated lighting, and experiential design to create a distinctive setting for contemporary art.
