Hermès has partnered with Mestiz, the Mexican design studio founded by architect and designer Daniel Valero, to create new handcrafted window displays for its boutiques in Mexico.
Founded in 2015, Mestiz works with regional master artisans to produce handwoven furniture, textiles, ceramics, and decorative objects that reinterpret traditional Mexican craftsmanship through contemporary design. Each piece is created in collaboration with local craftspeople, highlighting techniques that have been passed down through generations.
For the Hermès installation, Mestiz designed a series of colorful, handwoven sculptural elements inspired by nature, including flowers, birds, and organic forms. The displays were crafted entirely by Mexican master artisans, bringing traditional weaving techniques into the luxury retail environment while celebrating the country’s rich artistic heritage. The collaboration reflects Hermès’ ongoing interest in showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and artisanal savoir-faire.
Daniel Valero established Mestiz to bridge contemporary design with traditional craft, and the studio has since gained international recognition through exhibitions and collaborations with leading design institutions and luxury brands.
